Fabrication and Welding Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship

Employment will be with local engineering companies within the field of manufacture.

Duties will include working from drawings; welding using Manual Metal Arc, Manual MIG/MAG and TIG/Plasma-Arc Processes, fabrication, working effectively in Engineering and complying with regulations

Description:

You will attend NAFC Marine Centre for one academic year (Sept - June) leading to an SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operation and a National Certificate. Level 2 units include working safely, use of technical information, marking out, fitting, machining and welding. NC units include Maths, Computing, Assembly Skills, Maintenance, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Health & Safety, Engineering Maths and C.I Engines.

The qualification awarded will be Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 and National Certificate in Engineering Fabrication and Welding.

Duration:

This programme will take approximately three-four years to complete resulting in a SVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship.

Delivery:

  • Attendance at NAFC Marine Centre
  • Workplace assessments
  • Compilation of Portfolio of Evidence

  • SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations
  • SVQ Level 3 Fabrication and Welding
  • Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering
  • NC in Engineering Practice

Personal qualities, skills and qualifications:

  • Ideally applicants should have an interest in Engineering
  • Good co-ordination and dexterity is essential
  • Applicants must be physically able for a range of practical tasks involved
  • A mature outlook and willingness to work as part of a team are essential
