Refrigeration Engineering Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship

The programme is designed for people who are engaged in the installation and servicing of refrigeration and air-conditioning plant.

Duties include servicing, repair and installation of refrigeration and air conditioning plant, including equipment rated above 25kW.

Description:

You will attend North Glasgow College on block release:

First year: 18 weeks
Second year: 18 weeks
Third year: 18 weeks
Fourth year: 12 weeks

The college element of the programme includes disciplines such as: Commission and decommission of commercial and industrial halocarbon refrigeration systems; Install and test the components of refrigeration systems; Maintain the effective operation of systems; and Health and Safety.

For Level 2, a trainee will be working on equipment of 10kw and for Level 3 on equipment of 25kw or above.

Duration:

The training programme incorporates a Modern Apprenticeship covering a four-year period.

Delivery:

  • Block release to North Glasgow College
  • Workplace projects
  • Compilation of Portfolio of Evidence and workbooks
  • Written assignments

Qualifications you will acquire:

  • SVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Services: Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems
  • Modern Apprenticeship in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

Personal qualities, skills and qualifications:

  • Ideally applicants should have National 5s or Standard Grades in subjects such as Maths, Physics, Graphical Communications and Craft & Design
  • Good co-ordination and dexterity is essential
  • Applicants must be physically able for the range of practical tasks involved
