Plumbing Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship


Main duties will include:
working on hot and cold water plumbing; repair and installation of pipes, sewage works, drainage and central heating; fitting toilets, baths, showers and sinks; installing under floor heating; installation, repair and maintenance of oil fired boilers; installation and maintenance of heat pumps, heat recovery systems and ground source heat pumps.

Description:

The programme is designed for persons who are involved in plumbing industry. It follows a programme designed for the attainment of SVQ Level 3 in Plumbing with additional modules covering oil and leadwork. The qualification is accredited and awarded through the Scottish Qualifications Authority and the Scottish and Northern Ireland Joint Industry Board for Plumbing. You will attend Moray College, Elgin on a block release basis which comprises 36 weeks in blocks of three or four weeks spread over three years. The final year is work based. This leads to an SVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and the Modern Apprenticeship qualification.

Duration:

This is a four-year programme that incorporates a Modern Apprenticeship.

Delivery:

  • Block release to Moray College, Elgin
  • Compilation of Portfolio of Evidence and workbooks

Qualifications you will acquire:

  • SVQ Level 3 Domestic Plumbing and Heating
  • Modern Apprenticeship in Plumbing
  • Water Byelaws
  • Oil Firing Technical Association certificate or
  • Emergent Technologies certificate

Personal qualities, skills and qualifications:

  • Ideally applicants should have good National 5s/ Standard Grades in subjects such as Maths, Physics, Graphical Communications and Craft & Design
  • Good co-ordination and dexterity is essential
  • Applicants must be physically able for the range of practical tasks involved
