Painting and Decorating Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship

Typical duties include: preparing surfaces; applying paint by brush and roller; applying wall coverings; producing decorative finishes; and outdoor painting.

Description:

You will attend Inverness College for 19 weeks in year one and 9 weeks in year two, in approximately 4 week blocks. Third and fourth years will be mostly work based with one week each year at college, with a skills test in the fourth year to complete the Modern Apprenticeship.

Duration:

This is a four-year programme that incorporates a Modern Apprenticeship.

Qualifications you will acquire:

  • SVQ Level 3 Decorative Finishes (Construction) - Painting and Decorating
  • Modern Apprenticeship in Construction
  • Professional Development Award - Painting and Decorating

Personal Qualities, skills and qualifications:

  • Ideally applicants should have National 5s/ Standard Grades in subjects such as Maths, Physics, Graphical Communications and Craft & Design
  • Good co-ordination and dexterity is essential
  • Applicants must be physically able for the range of practical tasks involved

Note: This qualification can only be delivered by Train Shetland if the employer requesting training is not an affiliated member of Construction Skills.
