IT Technician Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship

Duties will include:

  • Assisting in the setting up and installing of networked, stand-alone and portable computer and communications equipment
  • Testing and upgrading equipment
  • Analysing faults
  • Advising users
  • Maintaining spreadsheet and database records

Description:

In the first year you will attend Shetland College one day per week to work towards a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MC:ITP) qualification. There is an exam at the end of the year. This qualification will provide you with the underpinning knowledge (theory) of the job. In the second year you will be entirely work-based and you will compile a portfolio of evidence to prove you consistently work to the standard of the SVQ Level 3. Your college assessor will visit you to assess the standard of your work in your employment.

Duration:

This programme may last up to three years.

Qualifications you will acquire:

  • Level 2 MA IT and Telecommunications
  • Level 3 MA IT and Telecommunications
  • Technical Certificate

Personal qualities, skills and qualifications:

  • Highers in relevant subjects are highly desirable, National 5s or General/Credit Standard Grades are essential.
  • Applicants are required to have an interest and aptitude towards Information Technology
  • Smart appearance and mature attitude are required
