We currently have an opening for an apprentice vehicle body repair technician. The role is demanding as the successful applicant will be working on a range of vehicles while learning their trade to a nationally recognised standard.

Modern cars are becoming increasingly complex and it is essential that today's vehicle body technicians are fully conversant with the most recent technology.

Typical duties may include:

  • Carrying out body repairs and panel replacement;
  • motor body re-alignment;
  • welding work;
  • applying filler; paint preparation, priming and spraying top-coat;
  • removal and replacement of doors, bumpers, interior trim etc.

Training provided by Train Shetland
The candidate will follow an intermediate apprenticeship training programme where they will study a Modern Apprenticeship Level 3 in Vehicle Paintwork and Repair

The apprenticeship scheme is run over 4 years with attendance at Perth College on Block Release

Throughout the apprenticeship, the candidate will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence and will be observed in the workplace by qualified assessors.

Personal Qualities, Skills and Qualifications
Be good with their hands and be able to work as part of a team.

Have good colour recognition and NO history of chest ailments.

Have 4 years/ secondary education with, ideally National 4 passes in Maths, Science and/or a technically based subjects and an enthusiasm for the trade.
