Potential candidates will be invited to complete a two week work placement trial in the summer. On completion a final selection will be made.

The 4 year apprenticeship consists of a combination of college hours and on the job experience, leading to an SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical).

On a typical day, you could find yourself working alongside our experienced engineers to:

  • Carry out routine maintenance on DH Marine plant and equipment at the Sullom Voe and Shetland Gas Plant terminals
  • Diagnose and repair faults on a marine propulsion system on board a fishing vessel
  • Repair and maintain customers' equipment in the DH Marine workshops
  • Carry out a major over haul on an engine in-situ, removing, cleaning and replacing worn items such as bearings, valves and seals as necessary
