Assess Workplace Competence Using Direct and Indirect Methods, this award replaces the previous A1 Assessor Award.

Train Shetland is pleased to offer the following course to gain this qualification -
* An introductory teaching day covering how to prepare and plan assessments and how to assess performance and knowledge.
* This intro day will also outline what is involved in achieving the qualification and ensure candidates have a clear understanding of what is required of them.
* Workplace assessments by trainer - at a time and place to suit candidates.
* Ongoing contact and support from the trainer who will be contactable throughout the duration of your qualification.

This is a qualification for people who -
* Assess in the workplace using a wide range of assessment methods, both direct and indirect. This will include observation, examination of work products, questioning and possibly also discussion with candidates, witness testimonies, candidate statements, assessing candidates in simulated environments.
* It is likely those undertaking the qualification will be involved in a range of assessing situations such as assessing SVQs, other workplace qualifications or in-house company standards.

To achieve this qualification assessor candidates must -
* Assess the competence of two candidates on two occasions in their place of work using a set of standards such as those provided by national awarding/standard setting body or the candidates employer.
* Each assessment should cover the full assessment cycle to include planning, judging evidence, providing feedback and recording the decision.

Time Commitment
In addition to the teaching day and workplace assessments you will be required to undertake some study and preparation in your own time. You should allow a minimum of 12 hours for this.

Assessment Process
This involves preparing a portfolio of evidence to meet the assessment criteria and also undertaking a minimum of two assessments on two different candidates. You may, however, also wish to undertake some practice assessments.

Trainer Support
* You will meet your trainer on day one of the training and they will also come to your workplace to undertake your assessments.
